One Place. Million Stories. (Part 2) :)

My College from My Perspective - Part 2
(Extra photos apart from the 30 already added in the previous post)

I also learnt that you cannot confine a photo essay on any place, be it your college or your area to a limitation of 30 pictures. There's a lot more to a place than a mere number.

One Place. Million Stories. :)

My College from My Perspective :)

While working on this photo essay, there's one thing that I learnt. No matter how well we claim to know a particular place, there's always more to learn, more to discover, more to explore! :)

Oh! and one more thing...I also learnt that I really REALLY need to buy a digital camera. :P :/ The quality of my 2.0 mp Samsung phone is quite poor :|

Anyway, here's my view of S.I.E.S :)

(S)omewhere (I)n (E)very (S)omething

All the things in and around our college, become a part of it and our college in turn, becomes a part of all the things too. It is always Somewhere In Every Something. The photo here is that of the entrance to our college, the entrance to a new, exciting, complicated, challenging and fun life that lies ahead! :)

Spark

To some, this spark can mean the spark of hope, the spark of enthusiasm which drives them to college everyday, which encourages them to better themselves each time. And to some, this spark can mean the spark of beauty, the spark of power that the magnificent buildings shielded with glistening glass windows portray!

Rebel-yes!

Not only does Renegade mean a rebel but it also conveys an emotion most of the collegiates live with - that of BEING a rebel! This photo was taken when our college team was playing a Box Football Match in the fest conducted by the BSc IT branch - Renegade. This picture doesn't represent one fest in particular but all the fests of our college and of the other colleges as well, for which we often rebel, demand holidays, bunk lectures and attend the fests! If being rebellious is what it takes to witness a life time experience, so be it!

Not just any other Lab :)

"Ae sab log kahan pe hai?".." Media Lab"
"Oye main Media Lab jaa rahi hu project ke liye"
Such are the dialogues that every BMM student in our college can relate to. The Media Lab is not just a prized possession of our college infrastructure but like a home within a home. Here is where all the BMM work goes on, be it attendance, making presentations for teachers, making presentations for ourselves, Frames work etc. During Frames, at one point of time, the lab actually looked like a storage room filled with creative materials and banners. There can't be any other place in college to which BMM students can relate to better :)

Books - Shelved

Honestly, how often do we* visit our college library? I guess a better question would be, do we even know where the college library is? Books are usually shelved - sometimes shelved into shelves and sometimes shelved by the students! The only time we might actually go and take the effort to search for books is the exam time. Some people even get away with that - thanks to the invention of xerox machines. Books help us from getting shelved from the college. Hence, it wins. Period.

*Conditions Applied: Excluding nerds

Reflection!

The reflection I intend to portray here is that of the thoughts. The passage seen in the picture holds a special place in my heart..in our hearts actually. Rewind to 22nd January, 2010 - 2nd Day of Frames and more importantly, Sofiya's 18th birthday :) I still remember how we managed to sneak out of the Frames frenzy for a couple of minutes to celebrate her birthday :) One of the fondest memories I have of my friends and college, right here -THE passage :)

Through Those Eyes...

Ever wondered what would have happened if you wouldn't have found your set of friends you hang out with in college? What would you do if you had to come and leave the college all alone? If you had to sit in the lectures alone, have your tiffin alone, struggle to find a group to do your projects with? The picture here portrays the emotions of a person who goes through all that I've just mentioned before. Through Those Eyes...we see the loneliness, the regret, the hope!

Guide - a- way

Some are looked up to. Some are looked down upon to. Some are loved. Some are hated. Some are respected. Some are disrespected. But no one can deny the importance they hold in a student's life! The faculty is like our guide in the map which has no directions, only destination. The picture here is that of Vinaay Sir, our photography sir, while he was telling us about the next project in line - A College Photo Essay - the sole reason behind this picture, this post, this blog!

Fearless! :D

Ironic, how she is standing right in front of the notice about 'getting fined for the use of cell phone' and how she is doing just that! We all know that usage of cell phones isn't allowed in the campus and we also know that how many of us actually follow it. Texting in class, talking on the phone in corridors....We might not be brave enough to tell our teachers the truth about not submitting the assignments on time or not coming to class on time, but yes! we are brave enough to condemn the rules. There can't be a better subject than this to which we students can relate to! :P

Chalo Canteen! :D

We probably spend more time in the canteen everyday than we spend in the classroom. The moment the teacher leaves the class, we leave for the canteen too! Its here where we sit and complete our assignments, just talk, have discussions about projects, eat our tiffins, eat canteen food, eat, eat and eat. :P I took the picture from a set of stairs adjoined to the canteen. The picture gives a feel of the two being lost in some deep thoughts, quite contrary to what one would expect in a canteen.

Drink ka Daily Dose :D

First thing you see when you enter the canteen - a cooler filled with bottles of soft drinks. Yellow, Orange, Black, Green - the plethora of colours not only welcomes you but also tempts you to buy the drink even if you don't really need it. And I am one of those who succumb to this temptation. :P

Save - Puri For Me! :D

This picture makes my mouth water! The Sev Puri you get in our college canteen is delicious! Since my mother goes to work, it isn't possible for her to make me tiffin daily. Hadn't it been for the canteen, I would have shrunk (on second thoughts, I wouldn't have minded it :P) But since it is there, and being the foodie that I'm, I get to gorge on frankies, chaat, sandwiches, medhu wada, noodles, fried rice....I can list out the entire menu here :P By the way, Frankie Uncle can be seen working diligently in the picture. Hadn't it been for him and the other working staff, I don't know what I would have done :)

Motorcycle Diaries!

The picture just makes we wish that I had a scooty too! Would have made my tiring journey from Chembur to Nerul everyday twice, atleast a tad fun! Many students ride their bikes to college, some for convenience, some for passion, some for show-off and some for girls :P

Mystified.

This picture gives me such an inexplicable feel. I always get curious when I walk by this door. Its been 1 and a half years since I have joined this college but never have I or any of my friends, ever entered through that door to explore what's inside. One of the reasons maybe that it's locked and bolted all the time. But never does it fail to give that eerie feeling whenever you come across it.

From the Seventh Heaven!

The Gopuram! I was disappointed with the photos that I had clicked of the Gopuram before because they looked just fine. They didn't decrease its beauty but couldn't enhance it as well. Finally I thought of clicking its picture from the rooftop :D Maybe the outcome isn't as good as it seems in my head but what makes it special is the journey to the rooftop with all the sneaking and peeking :P Quite adventurous it was! :P

He Is Always With Us :)

I was an atheist once upon a time - a proud one that too. The reason being, life was yet to show me the brighter side of it. I'd lost hope and faith in Him. But now I know how wrong I was :) It's not as if life has turned into a bed of roses for me. Infact, there's more of struggle now. But atleast I have a reason to live for and look forward to everyday. The reason restored my faith in Him back. :) I don't believe in idol worship. But still, whenever I enter the college, I am greeted with this sight and the heart just lets out a small 'thank you' every time. :) The picture is that of the Hanuman Temple inside our college campus. Photography isn't allowed in there and hence such a long shot. Wish I could capture the statue of Lord Hanuman on lens. It's magnificent! :)

Singh is King! :D

In our college, definitely! :D Many people wonder as to why are there more cows than students in our college. The answer being, our college is quite religious and cows being considered sacred in the Hindu religion, their presence in and around the campus is quite inevitable. You can see them relaxing on plush green lawns and wandering around in the campus. When you are new to the college, it might seem odd to you, but when you get used to it, their absence begins to bother :P And there's a pun which runs around the collegiates, which says - 'Hey! Check out the Guys' :P

Caged Freedom.

Everyday, these cows roam around the campus and chew on the lush green grass. An ideal life? I don't think so. The mere fact that their footsteps are confined to the boundary of the lawn, stirs up a feeling of empathy for them in me.

Oasis :)

The beauty of this flower just caught my eye, literally. I was just wandering around to find something worthy to capture when I came across this pink beauty surrounded by gleaming drops of water. The fact that it was just watered before I clicked the picture, adds to its splendour and freshness! :)

Our 'Adda'

Every circle of friends have their own Adda in some nook and corner of the college. For some it might be RD, for some it might be the TD, but for us, this is our Adda. After every lecture, we sit here on this 'katta', have our tiffins, joke, tease each other, discuss about projects, plans and other such things. We also made a friend here. His name is 'Pintu' :D He can dance in the air, swing from here to there. He is no one else but a small green caterpillar :)

Emptiness.

Never had I thought that I would get to see such a sight in my own college. I was on my 'Explore-The-College-Expedition' when I came across this place. The emptiness that crawled in after seeing the view, struck me! The place is right behind the amphitheater. Even now, when I saw the picture, it was as if all the sounds around me had become silent. All I could hear was the Scream of Silence!

College-Time Insurance Policy :D

I know its not like the Taliban are going to come and shoot us down. But I adore their hard work. Everyday torturing students like us to wear their ID cards, checking if every student has put on their ID cards or not, maintaining decorum in the college campus, driving the cows away and keeping the students safe, manning 4 huge gates including the temple gate as well...wow! And what's more important is...the responsibility of hundreds of students and faculty members lying on their shoulders!

Be the Voice for the Voiceless!

This picture was taken right outside our college, near the bus stop. The picture might look harmless to most of us. What's wrong with an elephant walking down the roads of a metro city high road other than the rareness of this sight. Not many of us know that these elephants are tortured by their masters. They are tamed and forced to walk down the roads of Navi Mumbai. The agenda behind this? Begging. Their masters beg for money and plead sympathy to the pedestrians who give in to the empathy of the elephant and give alms to their masters. And it's not as if the money is used for their welfare. But instead, is wasted away by their masters on crude things. High time we rise against such crimes and tame the one who can't be tamed.

Under a Lemon Tree =)

What's better than a chilled glass of lemonade on a hot sunny afternoon! Oh yaa..there is! When the lemonade seller is just outside your college back-gate! I don't why, but this picture makes me smile. Maybe it's the fact that a poor aged man is quenching his thirst. Maybe the thought behind the picture that the world hasn't reached to such levels of brutality yet where the poor can't even quench their thirst. So there's still hope for the world to change! :)

Lady Scissorhands!

Never had I noticed her before. How easily we neglect those little things which are actually of great significance! She is the hands behind the maintainance of the vibrant green cover that is quite prominent in our college. :)

Revival from the Dead !

He is the man! The man who has the power to induce life into the lifeless. He just needs a hose and the splash of water instantly revives the freshness, colour and makes the plants, trees and flowers bloom in all its glory once again! :) The various shades and tints of colours your eyes catch, the smell of freshness that makes you stop and notice the greenery around, is all thanks to this man :)

The Wait Still Awaits...

He may not have the riches everyone desires for, but he definitely has the riches everyone aspires for. Hope! I saw this man for the first time 4-5 months ago. Sitting in one corner outside the college, hoping for some noble soul to come and help him out. His physical handicap hampers him to work for himself and he's compelled to rather live on the alms and favours of others. Everyday I see him, I see distress, unhappiness, regret. But what I also see is hope and determination. I once went to give him some money and he murmured that he didn't want any money but he wanted food. I was left speechless.

Under A Thousand Splendid Suns

He neither had joy. Nor had fun. But he did have seasons in the sun. Seasons of working hard and quenching the thirst of hundreds of collegiates and other pedestrians. He's been outside our college gate since the last one month. Everyday while leaving the college, I see him sweating it out in the sun, crushing the sugarcanes manually, putting in so much efforts and getting paid Rs. 10 for 5 minutes of his dedicated labour. Its ironic, how just a gate borders to two totally opposite ways of living. One works hard, the other hardly works. Such is the game of life!

Some call them Friends. I call them Life :)

Parama, Neha and Sofiya :)
We have been together ever since the start of 1st year. While so many groups in our class have split, we can proudly say that we have stuck to each other ever since! :) There have been differences but that's when the real test of friendship comes in. College without them would be unimaginable since we have spent each day of the last 1 and a half years together! :) We are as close to each other as sisters :) And even though I know I might have annoyed you guys at some point of time or the other, I know I couldn't do a day without you :)

Hippo - Trippo :D

1 packet everyday - that's my daily dose of Hippo while being on a trippo :P My travel, everyday twice from Chembur to Nerul through autos and trains, is no less than a trip. And for company, I have Hippo with me. The moment I enter the Candy Shop (ya, that's what I call it :P) the lady there knows that this is what I have come for :P

Eddu :)

I love him :)
My mother never approved of having a pet dog at home. Being the only child, I often felt the need of some company. My love for animals made me want to have a pet more than ever. But this wish of mine never came true, until I met Edwin. Edwin is like my child. Everyday I see him in the morning sleeping near the Gopuram and by the time lecture ends, he would be in the canteen eying at everybody's delicious dishes. I feed him daily. I feel so happy and content :) Though I don't own him, atleast I own the sentiment of how it feels like to have a pet :)

Identity :)

Last but not the least....Me! :) I would like to end in the way I had begun - (S)omewhere (I)n (E)very (S)omething. Just like the cows, the temple, the canteen, the security people, faculty, my friends, Edwin..even I am a part of this college. Or rather, the college has become a part of me :) It has become my identity. It has given me memories to cherish, moments to treasure and experience to value :)
